What Is Future Kind Essential for Vegans Multivitamin?

holding future kind multi essentials

While Future Kind creates a number of different multivitamin supplements for their brand, this Essential Multivitamin is designed with vegans in mind. With 92 percent of vegans not getting enough B12 in their daily diet and a large majority of vegan and non-vegan people not consuming enough omega-3 and vitamin D, these three essential nutrients are really all you’ll find in this product. You don’t have to worry about mega dosing on vitamins that you don’t need, and there aren’t any artificial ingredients or fillers included.

Future Kind Essential Multivitamin is recommended for teens ages 11 and up, as well as adults. It can help promote clear thinking throughout the day, ample energy and a positive mood. This is a no-nausea formulation. If you’ve had trouble taking multivitamins in the past, this shouldn’t bother you at all. The capsules are easy to swallow and citrus infused.

Behind the Brand

Created in 2019 by two vegan brothers from Australia (Shaun and Eliot), Future Kind was inspired by the power of a plant-based diet. After studying nutrition, these brothers utilized evidence-based ingredients that are completely vegan and sustainable. Their omegas come from sustainably-sourced algae, plant lichen is the source of vitamin D and collagen in some of the other Future Kind supplements comes from the Amazonian super berry Amla. You don’t have to be vegan to try these products out. I don’t consistently follow a plant-based lifestyle, but always keep this product handy.

Pros

  • Only contains the three nutrients that most vegans are deficient in (omega-3, vitamin D and B12)
  • Easy to swallow capsule
  • Supports healthy energy levels
  • Enhances your ability to focus
  • Boosts immune function
  • Supports your nervous system

Cons

  • While this product is considered a multivitamin, there isn’t a complete profile of nutrients in it like you would find with other products. Though, Future Kind does offer these as well

Claimed Benefits

softgels of future kind multivitamin essential vegans

Future Kind Essential Multivitamin was created with vegans in mind, so let’s take a look at some of the benefits that this brand claims you can achieve. I experienced many of these myself when taking the product on a regular basis.

Made for Vegan and Plant Based Diets

When you are following a vegan diet, you’re likely consuming higher levels of vitamins like C, E, potassium, and magnesium. Unfortunately, your diet may be defunct in nutrients such as B12, D, and Omega-3. If you’re currently taking a traditional multivitamin or a different vegan multivitamin and it doesn't contain those last three ingredients, it’s probably time to make the switch to a product like Future Kind Essential Multivitamin. I have a number of vegan friends that loved their diet and felt very strongly about maintaining it, but they always complained of feeling sluggish and having brain fog (among some other issues). This product turned their lifestyle right around.

Could Help Support Energy Levels

I struggle with low energy levels when I eat a vegan diet. It’s really the main thing that keeps me going back to a diet that includes meat. This is largely because of the lack of vitamin B12 that I’m consuming. After trying Future Kind’s vegan essential, I was much more energized in the morning. I could get through the day without crashing in the middle of the afternoon.

May Enhance Focus

Your ability to focus on a specific task is increased when you use this product. This is because vitamin B12 will give you the energy you need to remain focused, but vitamin D can also help the brain function optimally. Omega-3 can improve your attention, focus and behavior.

Could Help Improve Mood

A large part of why people experience seasonal depression in the winter is because they suffer from low levels of vitamin D. I definitely feel a drop in my mood around October and November when I haven’t been able to get much sunshine. You can source your vitamin D from Future Kind Essential Multivitamin. It’s not as nice as sitting on the beach soaking in the sun’s rays, but it’s a very pure form of this essential vitamin.

May Help Improve Immunity

All three of the nutrients included in this Essential Multivitamin can help boost your immune function. It’s a great pick-me-up during cold and flu season. I’m always catching bugs here and there throughout the winter, but I noticed that my illnesses were shortened by the use of this product, and I was able to fight off a number of things that I came into contact with.

Has Some Evidence to Support Healthy Aging

It’s optimal for all adults to ensure they’re getting enough vitamin B12. It can promote healthy aging by supporting functions like red blood cell formation, bone health, nerve function and metabolism. Some people completely miss a B12 deficiency because it can present itself like normal signs of aging would. Foods like cereal and breads are often fortified with B12 to ensure you get enough each day. It’s a water-soluble vitamin, so your body expels what it doesn’t need.

Key Ingredients Breakdown

holding softgel future kind multivitamin

While this Essential Multivitamin contains just a few key ingredients, it’s important that we take a look at why each of them is so important and why they were chosen for this formulation. Being a registered dietitian, I love breaking down ingredients in products, especially multivitamins.

Vitamin B12

Future Kind uses B12 in the form of Methylcobalamin. This is because it’s an easier form of B12 to absorb and use by the body. When cyanocobalamin is used, the body has to convert it into something that’s usable. Also included is B12 as adenosylcobalamin for optimal absorption.

In regard to dosing, the body will usually absorb about one percent of the B12 that you consume. That means a 400-microgram dosage is only utilized as four micrograms. The recommended daily intake of B12 is 2.4 micrograms, but vegans may be dealing with very low levels of B12, which is why Future Kind has included it at 400 micrograms. You’re utilizing about 5 micrograms. As I mentioned before, you’ll urinate out any extra that your body doesn’t need. Doses of B12 in Future Kind Essential Multivitamin have been determined based on Dr. Michael Greger’s guidelines. He is the nation’s leading expert on plant-based nutrition.

Citrus Scented Vegan Omega 3

Omega 3 is an essential nutrient that humans need to consume in order to reap a number of health benefits. While there aren’t really any specific recommendations regarding the amount of omegas that vegans should take, there are recommendations for the general public. Adult men should consume 1.6 grams per day. Females should consume 1.1 grams per day. The great thing about omega 3 is that the body can store them in body fat. They can then be released during times of low dietary intake.

It’s not overly difficult to consume enough omega 3 in your diet when you’re a vegan, but most foods contain omega 3 in the form of ALA. This would then need to be converted to EPA and DHA in the body before it could be used. Supplements usually provide you omega 3 in the form of EPA and DHA without the need for conversion.

Vegan D3

Vitamin D3 plays a role in a number of bodily functions. Unfortunately, there’s not a lot of vitamin D3 that comes from our food supply, and then following a vegan lifestyle can further reduce your intake. We can source our vitamin D naturally from the sun, but many areas of the country don’t get adequate sunlight year round. This is why supplementation is so important. Vitamin D deficiency can result in things like osteoporosis, type I diabetes, insulin resistance, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, cardiovascular disease, cancer and psoriasis.

My Experience

Let’s talk a little bit more about my personal experience with Future Kind Essential Multivitamin. It’s definitely something I keep around and use regularly to fill in my nutritional gaps.

What I Love

I’m honestly not a big fan of multivitamins that contain really large amounts of nutrients. While some of the ingredients are water soluble, I prefer to simply give my body a boost of what it might need. I don’t want to overwhelm my system with items that I’m probably getting enough of through my diet alone. If I’m eating a vegan diet, then I can expect to get a lot of great nutrients from what I’m eating. The things I am lacking, I can quickly replace with this product.

Also, the capsules were really easy to swallow, and they don’t leave me with any kind of unpleasant aftertaste. The orange scented feature is nice and refreshing.

What Could Be Improved

While it’s not a huge issue, the size of the capsules is a little bit big for me. Other people in the product reviews don’t seem to think so, but I think I’m just sensitive to this feature. I’m the kind of person that usually has to crack tablets into half-size pieces in order to easily swallow them.

What I Don’t Like

The vitamins that are included in this product are included at doses higher than the recommended daily allowance. While these are still very safe levels, you should always use caution with a product like this. Make sure that you’re only taking the amount of product that is recommended.

It’s a relatively affordable multivitamin, but some people are used to spending less. You’ll be paying about $30 per month for this product if you’re taking it on a regular basis.

Who Should Try This Vegan Multivitamin?

bottle of future kind multivitamin

If you’re currently following a vegan diet, then it would be beneficial to utilize this product from Future Kind. Their Essential Multivitamin will address nutritional gaps before they start to cause symptoms that compromise your health. I wouldn’t wait months or even years before you focus on supplementing. By this point, you could be dealing with brittle bones and disease that is hard to reverse.

Safety and Side Effects

The nutrients that are included in Future Kind Essential Multivitamin are very safe. They’re also included at safe doses that shouldn’t cause any dangerous side effects. If you’re at all worried about potential side effects, you can speak with your doctor prior to taking this product. I tend to mention a new supplement to my doctor before I start to take it. It just makes me feel better to know I have my doctor’s approval and that I’ve confirmed there won’t be any kind of interactions with other medications or supplements that I’m taking.

Is It FDA-Approved?

The FDA only reviews medications and food products, so this supplement is not approved by the FDA. However, Future Kind Essential Multivitamin is manufactured in an FDA- approved facility.

Cost and Where to Buy

You can purchase Future Kind Essential Multivitamin directly off the Future Kind website, which is located at https://www.futurekind.com/. I usually purchase this product right off the website. This way I know that I’m getting a reputable product that has been stored properly after the point of manufacture. The current cost is $29.95 for a one-month supply. You can subscribe to save, and your price drops down to just over $23 for a one-month supply. I like having my refills sent directly to me without having to remember to order them periodically.

I don’t have many bad things to say about Future Kind Essential Multivitamin. In fact, it’s something that I’m sure I’ll be using for many years to come. Tips for Success from the RD

I would like to share some tips for success that I’ve come up with based on my experience with a plant-based diet and as a registered dietitian. It can take a little bit of time to figure out this lifestyle, so it really benefits your health.

  • Make sure that you’re getting enough protein in your diet. When you’re not eating meat or dairy, this can drastically reduce your intake. If you’re not getting enough protein, then you’re not going to feel energized.
  • Sometimes you might feel like you’re not full enough. Meat products take longer to digest, making you feel full for longer periods of time. If you do feel hungry, make sure that you’re getting enough fiber in your diet.
  • You can eat larger portions if you’re eating plant-based foods. They don’t usually contain as many calories so feel free to fill up.
