Frequently Asked Questions
Does EQUELLE increase estrogen levels?
Taking EQUELLE does not impact estrogen levels. Although EQUELLE’s active ingredient, S-equol, mimics some of the same activities of estrogen by preferentially binding to estrogen receptor beta, EQUELLE is a hormone free‡ dietary supplement and clinical research shows S-equol supplementation reduces the frequency of hot flashes, supports the quality of sleep, reduces bothersome vaginal symptoms like irritation, soreness and itching**, and alleviates mood swings.†
How much soy does EQUELLE contain?
During our fermentation process, only small trace amounts of soy compounds remain in the final EQUELLE product. These amounts are significantly less than those present in a single serving of most common soy foods (i.e. 1 oz of soybeans / 3 oz of tofu).
How does EQUELLE work?
Hormone-free‡ EQUELLE, a non-prescription dietary supplement with naturally derived S-equol,* provides menopause symptom relief by helping to reduce the frequency of hot flashes, supporting sleep quality, reducing vaginal irritation, soreness and itching**, and alleviating mood swings.† S-equol works by mimicking some of the actions of estrogen by preferentially binding to estrogen receptor beta—helping to alleviate hot flash frequency and other symptoms associated with depleting estrogen levels during menopause.†

My symptoms improved after a month and then went entirely away after 2 mo. Now unfortunately it is currently unavailable and hope I can find it bc my symptoms are returning without it!
Jan 2021 Update: well this is currently unavailable. I can’t find Equelle except directly from the company and it will take weeks to come. I’ve run out and hot flashes are returning. So I looked around and there is a supplement for men called Equolibrium sold here on Amazon and some women apparently take it for hot flashes. It has Equol and one capsule is slightly more equivalent to the two capsules of Equelle. I just got them so we shall see!
March 2021 Update: The other Equol supplement I mention above wasn’t as good as this. Thankfully availability has returned and I’ve gone back to using this. My flashes have reduced even more. Most days I have no flashes. Occasionally I’ll get a small one when I wake. Such a game changer for me...such a help with all of the stress from work/pandemic. I don’t have to deal with hot flashes anymore!
April 2022 Update: While I still support this product for its ability to reduce and even eliminate flashes, I am discontinuing it. I increased my dosage to 2 tabs morning, 4 tabs evening and had this dosage for months. That worked fine but I found over the past 4 months that I was gaining weight in an atypical way. I did all the normal things that I do to lose the extra pounds and I still steadily increased to a weight I haven't had since pregnancy. I know it's not unusual for a women in menopause to gain weight (!) - but honestly it was a weird weight gain that didn't make sense and lasted for months. Anyway, I stopped taking these and a week later I dropped 4 pounds (doing the same exercise and eating as I typically do). So far I haven't had worsening hot flashes.
I think that maybe I'm proceeding further past menopause and the estrogen-like aspects of this supplement was encouraging water retention, but who knows. At some point women would stop taking this when their hot flashes naturally decrease (they can't last forever, right?)
June 2022 update:
My flashes worsened with stopping equelle so I’m back to taking it, 3 in evening, 1 in am. I am doubtful that this has increased my weight. I’ve lost weight here in summer and it doesn’t appear related to whether I take this or not.
I wasnt sleeping, I was never comfortable. My bed room had to be ice cold, my boyfriend moved out into the living room! I was desperate. My obgyn gave me hormones but I REALLY REALLY didnt want to take hormones. I was in class and a lady told me about equelle and how it helped her and I thought, ok. It's worth a try.
1 month into it and my hot flashes are all but gone. I sleep through the night and I feel so much better! My boyfriend sleeps in our room again and life is just as it was before the hot flashes hit.
I have been out of equelle for a week now (just ordered some more so waiting for it to get here) and I still havent had a bad hot flash yet. I can feel small ones start up again but I'm hoping my order gets here soon so I can curb them off. I did go ahead and subscribe to this product since I know it works so I can always them.
This is a great alternative to hormones and I am so thankful this exists!!
